Abstract

222,904. Dixon, W. July 30, 1923. Bolts. - A swivelheaded bolt is made as follows : An axial hole 5 is bored into the, plain end 1 of the bolt 2, and two opposite slots 6, 7 are cut out of the sides of this hole. The head 13 is shaped like a rod fitting inside the hole 5, and is swivelled therein on a pivot 15. The inner end of the head 13 is heavier than its outer end, and the slots 6, 7 are so dimensioned and positioned that, when the bolt is turned so that the slot 7 is below, the bolt 13 swings out from the position shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 4, and is stopped in this cross position by abutting against recesses 11, 12 in the inner and outer ends 9, 10 respectively of the slots 6, 7. The front or top end of the head 13 may be chamfered.
