Abstract
487,322. Metal-vapour lamps. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS - GES., and SPANNER, H. J. Dec. 14, 1936, No. 34352. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group VI] A quartz lamp 1 for radiating ultra-violet rays is provided with means for discharging oxygen in its immediate vicinity in such a way that the lamp is surrounded by a layer of oxygen so as to prevent the substantial formation of oxides of nitrogen. The gas is discharged from an annular nozzle 4 at one or each end of the lamp, and is supplied through holes 6 in a hollow extension 5 of the cap 3 pushed over the end of the lamp envelope.
