Abstract

1,176,379. Glow discharge lamps. THOMSON-CSF. 23 March, 1967 [27 April, 1966], No. 13883/67. Heading H1D. In a display tube comprising a gas filled vessel containing an anode and a plurality of cathodes, one lead wire to an electrode is coated with silica to prevent it becoming luminous. The coating is obtained by exposing the wire to silicon bearing fumes from heated ethyl silicate, an air-silane or N 2 -silane mixture, alternatively the fumes may be obtained by burning an acetylene-silane mixture under pressure.
