Abstract

1505142 Metal-vapour lamp GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 28 Feb 1975 [4 March 1974] 8511/75 Heading H1D In a high current low pressure discharge lamp, e.g. for UV, an electrode 13 comprises a refractory metal hollow cylinder 21, containing coaxial filament 23, and internally coated with an emissive mix initially 24 on the filament and deposited by heating of the filament which is afterwards shorted 14-15 before operation of the lamp. A lamp envelope 10 of silica contains two such electrodes, rare gas and Hg25 : the emissive mix comprises alkali earths and rare earths, heated to 1100‹ C. to coat the hollow electrodes which in operation are heated by the A.C. discharge.
