Abstract

486,222. Adjustable seats. RUBERY, OWEN, & CO., Ltd., and ROBINSON, G. H. L. Jan. 27, 1937, No. 2389. [Class 52 (ii)] A motor-vehicle seat has a supporting base 11 which slidably coacts with spaced supports 23, with respect to which it can be held in predetermined position, and has the back-rest 15 and seating portion 18 mounted thereon so that either can be adjusted for slope without the other being moved. An inverted channel member 13 secured to the supporting channels 11 has lugs 14 to which the back-rest 15 and seat 18 are pivoted at 16 and 17 respectively. The seat is adjusted for slope by means of a lever 20 engaging a slotted bar 21, and slidably by means of a spring-urged arm 26 on a channel 11 engaging teeth 24 in a fixed support 23. The back-rest locking means comprises parallel arms 31 hinged to the back-rest and carrying a pin 30 which engages a toothed bar 28 and slides in a slotted member 35, movement of which, by means of lever 33, serves to disengage the pin 30 from the toothed bar 28 for adjustment.
