Abstract

1346420 Chair with adjustable parts TANSAD CHAIR CO (1931) Ltd 27 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970] 45923/70 Addition to 1184067 Heading A4J In a chair having an adjustable backrest, the backrest is mounted on one arm 11 of an L- shaped support bar 12, the other arm 13 being longitudinally slidable in a guideway formed by a channel-section member 16 on which the seat is mounted and a cylindrical pin 21 extending through the side walls of the channel member, the support bar being locked in position by the engagement of a pin 24 on the upper wall 19 of the channel-section member or on the support bar with one of a number of holes or recesses 22 in the support bar or in the upper wall and being unlocked for longitudinal sliding adjustment by rotation about an axis determined by the pin 21 until the pin 24 is disengaged from the holes or recesses 22. The support bar 12 may be held against angular movement by a cam 25 pivotally mounted within the channel-section member and spring biased towards a position in which it abuts the other arm 13. A similar interconnection may be provided between the backrest and the said one arm 11 and for adjustably mounting the arm rests on the chair.
