Abstract

1527724 Height adjustable vehicle seat UOP Inc 30 April 1976 [2 May 1975] 18352/75 Heading A4J The height of the rear end of a vehicle seat cushion b is adjusted relative to a seat cushion supporting frame 7 by pivotally connecting one end of a plate 12 or 112 to the seat cushion 6 and the other end of the plate to the seat frame 7, the plate being locked in a selected position relative the a shaft 10 or 110 which defines the pivot axis between the plate 12 or 112 and the frame 7 and the plate being biased upwardly by a spring 23 or 123. The locking mechanism may comprise a toothed wheel 13 secured to the shaft 10 and engaged by a toothed plate 14 slidable out of engagement with the wheel against the bias of a spring 21 on depression of a knob 20. Alternatively, the mechanism may comprise a pin 116 secured to the plate 112 and engaged with one of a number of vertically spaced recesses 114b in a plate 114 pivotally secured to the seat frame. The front of the seat may be provided with a further mechanism comprising a plate 12, one of the pivotal connections between the front and rear ends of the seat cushion and the respective plate allowing limited longitudinal movement of the respective plate relative to the seat cushion.
