Abstract

<PICT:0485985/III/1> In adsorbers for benzole recovery &c. having a heating and cooling coil arranged within the adsorbent, steam is used as the heating medium and the cooled condensate of this steam is used as cooling medium, thereby preventing corrosion of the coil. The coil 8 leads from the bottom of a chamber 6 situated in the upper part of the adsorber and having a steam inlet 7, and terminates in two branches 9, 13 terminating respectively at the top and bottom of a condenser 12. In the heating period steam is admitted at 7, expelling the water already in chamber 6, and passes by the pipe 9 and inspection glass 11 to the condenser. When flushing of the adsorbent is completed and gas is again admitted by the pipe 2, valves 7 and 10 are closed. The cooling action of the gas causes condensation in chamber 6, whereupon the cooled condensate in 12 is sucked back through the check valve 14 into the coil 8 and chamber 6.
