[Class 80 (ii) In variable - speed gearing, for bicycles in which solid drive gives the minimun speed, the rea sprocket 17 is secure( to a casing 16 provide( with radial grooves 24 engaged by projection 25 on roller ratchet engaging in an annula groove 27 in an inter mediate member 8, corresponding ratchets and grooves being arranged between the member 8 and a ring 21 secured on the bicycle hub. The member 8 is supported on a plate 4 which can be slidden radially on flats 3 on a part 1, secured to the axle 2, by rotation of a lug 10 on a sleeve 11 secured to a control-lever 13. Increase of eccentricity of the member 8 increases the speed of the driven hub.
