Abstract
485,878. Screw propellers. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and FORSYTH, A. G. Dec. 15, 1936, No. 34444. [Class 114] In variable pitch screw propellers wherein the pitch adjustment is effected by shafts actuated from an electric motor, two of such shafts are extended and formed with screw threads to engage non-rotatable nut members which act upon switches for the purpose of opening the appropriate circuit and so determining the maximum or minimum pitch values. The shaft 32, carrying the worm 36 which adjusts the blade for pitch, is extended so that the part of reduced diameter 38 is in threaded engagement with a nut member 39 having a projection 40. This member is adapted to contact with the cam surfaces 42, 43 of a switching member 44 in the circuits of the electric motor 11. In the construction shown, the electric motor drives a pinion 19, which meshes with screw pinions 22 on inclined shafts 23, the outer ends of which have gear connections 26, 29 with the shafts 32.
