Abstract

485,642. Modulating systems. WIRED RADIO, Inc. Aug. 18, 1936, No. 22708. Void. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1935. [Class 40 (v)] Modulation of H.F. with carrier suppression is obtained by a modulating stage consisting of a pair of screened pentode valves 5, 6 the control grids of which are supplied with H.F. in phase opposition from a source 1, and the suppressor grids 7, 8 with audio-frequency modulating signals in phase opposition from a source 13. The anodes are connected to a resistance 18 on which an adjustable tapping is connected through an output transformer 17 to H.T. supply 15. The screen grids are also connected to the H.T. supply. The valve characteristics and operating potentials are so chosen that modulation with carrier suppression is obtained. The load circuit 20 may include filters so as to select particular side bands at will.
