Abstract
397,930. Valve modulating circuits. MARCONI INTERNATIONAL MARINE COMMUNICATION CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, and BEST, F. P., 9, Vicarage Road, Battersea, both in London. March 4, 1932, No. 6627. [Class 40 (v).] Relates to transmitting circuits of the type wherein the load on the source of high-tension current is maintained constant during keying and is made up of that due to the oscillating valve 1 and that due to an absorber valve 2 shunted across said source and comprises providing a key 9 in the alternating supply circuit A.C. of a rectifier unit 4 .. 8 adapted to supply grid biasing potentials to the valves 1, 2. The output from the rectifying unit is controlled by the resistance 8 and fed to a potentiometer 10, adjustable tappings of which are connected to the grids of the oscillating and absorber valves. The rectifying valves 4, 5 may be replaced by a metal rectifier and the output of the rectifier unit is smoothed by condenser 11 or other means which is said to eliminate "keyclicks."
