Abstract

485,129. Paper &c. bottles &c. WARE & CO., Ltd., H. M., and WARE, H. M. March 24, 1937, No. 8634. [Classes 66 and 94 (ii)] A paper &c. bottle &c. provided on at least one side of its mouth with an integral tab &c. d which extends beyond the mouth portion and is adapted to be bent downwardly over the lips of the bottle &c. when they have been brought together, is characterized in that the outer surface of the tab &c. has provided thereon, e.g. by prongs, tangs &c. ready for use in sealing, a metal strip e which, or a portion of which, may be turned downwardly with the tab &c. and held in position by indenting, crimping &c. or by heat or pressure. The metal strip e may extend laterally beyond the container to provide ears which may be bent around the ends of the sealed mouth. When the metal strip e extends downwardly below the mouth proper, the lower portion may be left free to form a downwardly extended skirt. In a further modification, Fig. 5, a projecting tab or tabs &c. d with sealing strips e attached, may be provided on each lip of the mouth portion portion and arranged in staggered fashion.
