Abstract
484,787. Drying stockings. SCHUSTER, F. Nov. 20, 1937, No. 32023. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1936. [Classes 34 (i) and 34 (ii)] Stockings are inserted in a drying chamber by supporting them on upright supports 2 on which they are not stretched but fit sufficiently loosely to be capable of a fluttering motion. The stockings may be passed through the chamber by mounting the supports on conveying chains, pairs of supports being preferably mounted together. The supports are guided by extensions 5 resting on a guideway 6. The supports consist of flat tapered strips of sheetmetal or of similar strips 2a, Fig. 9, bent along their longitudinal middle axes and mounted so that the concave sides of continuous supports are directed towards each other. Pairs of flat stocking forms 7, Fig. 12, may be interposed between pairs of supports 2 on the same endless conveyer, so that after passing through the drying chamber 9a on the supports 2 the stockings may be removed therefrom at the point A and stretched over the forms 7 for subsequent moistening at 8 and pressing between rollers 9. Wet stockings are then placed on the supports 2 at the point C and move in common with the stockings on the forms through the drying chamber, the latter being finally removed at the point A.
