Abstract

Internal-combustion engine cylinder heads or parts thereof are made of a copper alloy containing 0,35-2 per cent of cobalt and subjected to precipitation hardening or age hardening treatment. After heating the alloy to bring the cobalt into solid solution in the copper, it may be cooled, either to room temperature or to 200 DEG C., and then reheated to 350-550 DEG C.; or it may be cooled to within the precipitation hardening range and maintained there for a sufficient time.
