Abstract

Permanent magnets are made of an alloy consisting of 6-15 per cent of aluminium, 20-30 of nickel and the remainder iron, the ingredients being melted together and cast, the casting being cooled rapidly to room temperature or to at least below the temperature of retreatment, and then aged the cast alloy at 600-700 DEG C. The alloy may be normalized at 1000-1500 DEG C., before ageing. The alloy may also contain 3-5 per cent of chromium.
