Abstract

In producing magnetic alloys suitable for use in telephony, the material is given a final rolling treatment in which it is reduced in thickness by not more than 40-50 per cent, the rolling being performed within a temperature range in which recrystallization is incomplete, this range being from 600-900 DEG C. for a 50 per cent. Fe-Ni alloy. In an alternative method the alloy is brought to its ultimate formation by cold working so as to reduce its thickness by not more than 40-50 per cent and is then subjected to a heat treatment of substantially one hour's duration within the temperature range of incomplete recrystallization, this being 600-800 DEG C. for a 50 per cent Fe-Ni alloy.
