Abstract

483,001. Awnings. HIPWOOD, J., and HIPWOOD, SON, & CO., Ltd., G. Oct. 1, 1936, No. 26592. [Class 20 (iii)] The inner arms of the supports for a shop window or like blind are pivoted on pins 9 mounted on horizontal axis 8 and acted on by spring-tensioned eye-bolts 15. The pins 9 are thereby adapted to tilt outwardly when the arms are extended and to take up a vertical position within a casing when the arms are folded. Each eye-bolt is connected to a member having a lug or lugs 14 and an eye 13 engaging the pin 9 between eyes on an inner arm 11. The springs bear against perforated lugs on brackets 4 and are adjusted by nuts to the required compression, the lugs acting as limiting stops to the movement of the pins 9. A guide roller 19 mounted on fixed axles carries the blind over obstructions. The roller may be composed of lengths of tube and may be mounted on ball-bearings. The arms may be pivotally connected as disclosed in Specification 482,713. The brackets 4 are carried clear of the box on angle brackets 5 strengthened by gusset plates,
