Window blinds.-The sliding and hinged side arm A of a sun blind is supported by a radius rod B carrying a hinged extension rod b<1> pivoted to the side arm near its outer end, a second radius rod b being pivoted to the rod B or extension rod b<1> to the arm A near its lower end. When the side arms are of the known knuckle joint type the rod b<2> is pivoted to the arm A at the knuckle joint. In the case of pivoted side arms A, Fig. 5, the lower end of the second radius rod b is pivotally attached to a slide D working on a guide secured to the shop front either above or below the side arm, the arrangement being such that the slide moves upward when the blind is unwound. In all cases the rod b<2> may be slidably, as well as pivotally, connected to the rod B or b<1>, a spring S being arranged on the end b<2>, so that when the blind is extended the spring acts as a shock absorber, and in the event of the wind lifting the blind lath a<1> the spring allows the lath to fall back gently. The spring also prevents the main spring of the blind causing the lath a<1> to strike the part of the blind base with sufficient force to break the facia &c.
