Abstract
504,042. Sunblinds. DEAN, C. B., (trading as IRVING & CO.), and HELME, P. E. Oct. 23, 1937, No. 28977. [Class 20 (iii)] Each of the supporting- arms of a sun-blind A comprises two sections B, C of solid-drawn tubing of oval cross - section, cast - iron brackets fitted tightly and rigidly into the adjacent ends of the sections to provide a pivoted elbow-joint which is so constructed that, in the extended position, the sections are connected at an angle to each other, a bearing E swivelling on an inclined pivot by which to pivotally mount the rear section B so that it has the desired inclination, and a swivelling-bracket G connected between the outer end of the outer section C and the blind-rail H to permit adjustment of the latter to suit the inclination of the arm. As shown in Fig. 1, the fabric A is carried on a roller a disposed in a wall box D which is also adapted to house the arms when they are folded. The rear section B is mounted upon an inclined pivot e within a swivelling bearing E pivoted upon a horizontal pin e<1> on a bracket d in the wall box D. The upper end of the section B comprises two cast-iron brackets b, b<1>, Fig. 4, the bracket b being fitted tightly within the section and the bracket b<1> being fitted tightly against the outside of the section. Both brackets b, b<1> are provided with conical bushes which rotate in recesses in the bearing E. The bearing E is formed with a lug k which engages in a notch in a slide K by which the swivelling movement of the bearing E is controlled and limited. The slide K moves between guides on the bracket d, and its movement is limited and adjusted by a screw K<1>, being held in position by a bolt K<2>. The elbow joint F between the two sections B, C of the arm comprises a cast-iron bracket b<4> fitting rigidly in the arm B and provided with a bearing which is mounted upon a pin f<1> the pin f also carries brackets c <1>, c2 which fit rigidly into the section C and are provided with conical bushes engaging recesses in the said bearing. The desired difference in inclination of the two sections B, C of the arm is obtained by inclining the axis of the elbow joint F relatively to the longitudinal axis of the section B, The outer section C is fitted with a swivelling-bracket G to which the blind-rail H is attached, such bracket G comprising, as shown in Fig. 14, a part g which is pivoted on a member g<2> attached to the end of the section C and is adapted to swivel about its longitudinal axis in a lug g<1> fixed to the blind-rail H. The rail H may therefore be adjusted to suit the inclination of the arms and to permit the blind to find its correet alignment. The Provisional Specification describes also the connection between the blind-rail and the outer ends of the arms as comprising a small box which contains means to adjust the rail vertically to suit the inclination of the arm and provide an oscillatory movement to permit the blind to find its corrcct aligpment.
