The present invention also contemplates a support for Venetian blinds which may be installed in substantially the same way as the curtain and shade support previously described. Such a construction is shown in Figure 6 and includes the identical rod 3 shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3. However, in lieu of the supporting brackets 8 We have provided slightly different brackets 25. These brackets are of right-angular construction and have one arm 26 provided with a dove-tailed groove for reception of the plates 1 on the ends of the extensible rod 3. The other arms of the right-angular brackets however, instead of extending in a vertical plane and lying against the front face of the window frame are directed inwardly toward each other and lie in a horizontal plane. These arms of the brackets 25 are indicated by the numeral 21 and are each provided with a dove-tailed groove on its under side for reception of a plate fixed to the top of the Venetian blinds adjacent the sides thereof. It is thus apparent that the Venetian blinds may be easily installed by connecting them to the rod 3 in the manner indicated and then expanding the rod so as to firmly clamp the brackets 25 against the inner faces of the frame.

In accordance with the patent statutes we have described what we now believe to be the preferred form of the invention but inasmuch as various minor changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention it is intended that all such changes be included within the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A combined window curtain and shade support including an extensible rod, plates fixed to the ends of the rod, a right-angular bracket for each end of the rod, a dove-tailed groove formed on one arm of each bracket and adapted to receive the plate on the rod, the other arm of each bracket provided with means for supporting window curtains and shades.

2. A combined window curtain and shade support including an extensible rod, plates fixed to the ends of the rod, a right-angular bracket for each end of the rod, a dove-tailed groove formed on each arm of each bracket, one arm of each bracket adapted to receive the plate on the rod, and the other end of each bracket adapted to receive curtain and shade fixtures.

3. A combined window curtain and shade support including an extensible rod, plates fixed to the ends of the rod, a right-angular bracket for each end of the rod, a dove-tailed groove formed on each arm of each bracket, one arm of each bracket adapted to receive the plate on the rod, and a channel plate adapted to be mounted in the other arm of each bracket.
