Abstract
1,186,759. Suspending curtains. M. ASSAEL. 21 Nov., 1967 [25 Nov., 1966], No. 52860/67. Heading A4B. A valance or decorative strip 7a is releasably secured at each end to an angle bracket 1a having a front wing 2a and a side wing 3a and includes a pair of arms 4a extending rearwardly from the front wing 2a and provided at their free ends 5a with formations which straddle a curtain rail 6a to be supported thereby. The arms 4a may be integral with the front wing 2a (as in Fig. 1) or, as shown, are carried by a plate 9 which is vertically adjustable relative to the front wing 2a. The side wing 3a may carry an extension 13 which is adjustably secured to the wing 3a to vary the spacing of the front wing 2a from the wall M. A flange 17 on the extension 13 abuts the wall M and has holes 18 to receive rails to be driven into the wall M. An intermediate bracket 20 with rail engaging arms 4a may be provided. Quick-release, adhesive fastening strips 8a, 8b on the brackets 1a, 20 engage the strip 7 or co-operating strips on the decorative strip 7. Alternative formations (5c, 5d, 5e - Figs. 8-10) on the ends of the arms are described for engaging other forms of curtain rail (6c-e).
