Abstract

906,094. Suspending curtains. HUNTER DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. May 25, 1960 [May 26, 1959], No. 18547/60. Class 52 (5). In an adjustable supporting bracket for curtains and/or a pelmet 20, the bracket comprising a securing portion 1 adapted to be secured to a wall or other support and a carrying portion 2 projecting relative to the portion 1, the carrying portion 2 having at least one extension piece 13, the carrying portion 2 comprises at least one row of apertures 11 (Fig. 1) or notches 48 (Fig. 7) arranged in its longitudinal direction and the extension piece 13 comprises at least one locking projection 12 which may be engaged with one of the apertures 11 or notches 48 and in the operative position engages a strip of material between two successive apertures or notches. The extension piece 13 has a turned-down end 16 with a locking projection 17 which co-operates with one of a series of apertures 18 in a pelmet carrying strip 19. Side flanges 15 are provided on the extension piece 13 to engage the side rim of the strip 19. The strip 19 has two recesses 23 through which the side flanges 15 may be passed. The flanges 15 are arranged at an obtuse angle to the upper surface of the carrying portion 2. A locking clip 14 is provided. As shown in Fig. 2, the locking clip 24 has a carrying portion 27 for a curtain rail 25. In a modification shown in Fig. 6, a spring clip 35 detachably secures a curtain rail 36 to the underside of the extension piece 13. The locking projection 12 may be replaced by a T-shaped tongue or a knob which co-operates with keyhole-shaped apertures. The securing portion 1 may be formed with a projection 3, a recess 7 and a lip 9 for engaging the edges 4, 8 of a head box 5 of a venetian blind. In the modified adjustment means shown in Fig. 7, the notches 48 are spaced along the length of an elongated keyhole slot 47 formed in the carrying portion of the bracket and the locking projection is a T-shaped member 45 on the adjacent extension piece. A post 46 is provided on the extension piece and may be engaged in one of the notches 48. A circlip 49 is attachable to the post to maintain the desired adjustment.
