it is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a curtain and shade support bracket which will be used in pairs to support curtain rods and a shade from the upper portion of a window.
Another object of this invention is to provide a device of the type described which will be mounted to the upper corners of the window molding by suitable fasteners in order to support the shade, curtains and draperies.
A further object of this invention is to provide a support bracket device which will have a pair of hook members secured to a projection of the main body in order to engage the ends of curtain and drapery rods.
A still further object of this invention is to provide support bracket which will have lip means on the main body that will rest upon the projecting window molding at the upper edge while the face portion of the main body will have a channel member in which is received a shade bracket, the device being used in pairs providing a means of supporting a window shade and drapery and curtain rods.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a curtain and shade support which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is a front view showing one of the devices of the present invention, the other not being shown because of its similarity;
H6. 2 is an end view of FIG. 1 shown in elevation and removed from the window molding shown in FIG. 1; and
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the shade mounting bracket that is used in the channel portion of the left support not shown in the drawing.
According to this invention, a curtain and shade support is shown to include a bracket 11 made of metal or other suitable materials. The bracket 11 includes a main body or face member 16 adapted to fit flush against the face surface of the window molding or frame 13. Projecting rearward from the top edge of the face member 16- is a top horizontal lip 12 adapted to engage the top edge or surface of the window frame 13. Projecting rearward from the right edge of the face member 16, as viewed in FIG. 1, is an end member or end wall 24 adapted to engage and fit flush against the right end edge of the window frame 13. The support 10 further includes a curtain support member 14, preferably planar and in the form of a plate, fixed to the rear edge of the end member 24. The curtain support member 14 is spaced rearward of the face member 16 a sufficient distance that the curtain support member 14 will fit flush against the wall surface 25, while the face member 16 fits flush against the face of the window frame 13. The curtain support member 14 extends upward away from the end member 24 and is provided with a pair of spaced apart hook members l5 for supporting the curtain and drapery rods 15'. The main body 16 of support 10 is secured to the face surface of window molding 13 by means of a screw fastener 17 and the curtain support member 14 of bracket 11 is provided with a pair of spaced apart openings 18 for receiving screw or other type fasteners (not shown), if it is desired. However the lip 12 in conjunction with screw 17 will secure support 10 to the window 13 without additional support means.
An open channel member 19 is secured fixedly to the face of main body 16 in a suitable manner and slideably receives a shade bracket 20 which allows for the adjustment of support 10 to different width shades 19'.
