To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, Sims B. HovnY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Wyandotte and Staten-f Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain- Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to newand useful improvements in curtain supporters.

The object of this invention is the provision of a curtain supporter which is so constructed that it willretain both the curtain and shade in their proper positions against any undesired displacement.

Another object of this invention is the provision of a shade supporter which can be adjusted to suit a window frame of any desired size.

A further object of this invention is the provision of a device of the nature described which will be comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, reliable and efficient in use and readily operated.

With the above and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formations, combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

3 is an end elevation. Fig. 4: is a longitudinal sectional view thereof. Fig. 5 is a trans verse sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 6 is a similar view taken on the line 66 of Fig. 1.

' Referring to the accompanying drawings by similar characters of reference throughout the several views, thenumeral 1O designates generally a portion of a window frame comprising the usual horizontal rail 11 connected by the customary vertical rails'12 between which are slidable the customary sashes 13.

As clearly illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings, the window frame 10 extends inwardly beyond the line of the wall 1a to produce shoulders 15 for engagement with a pair of supporting

16 and 17 are formed adjacent their rear edges with inwardly extending prongs 18 for engagement with the shoulders 15 of the rails 12 whereby these said plates will be held against any undesired displacement.

16 and 17 respectively adjacent their rear edges so that the inner end of the rod 19 will be slidably located within the inner end of the rod 20. The rod 19 is formed with a longitudinally extending bore 21 for engagement with a threaded adjusting rod 22 which extendsthrough the said rod 20 and through an opening formed in the plate 17. The outer end of the rod 22 is equipped with an angular head 23 which engages a surrounding washer 2 1 located upon the rod 22 and contacting with the adjacent face of the plate 17.

A locking nut 25 is threaded upon the rod 22 and is longitudinally movable within the rod 20 to contact with the adjacent end of the rod 21 for limiting the inward movement of the rod 19 as desired. Obviously upon the rotation of the rod 22 the plates will be drawn inwardly causing the prongs 18 to engage the shoulders 15 thereby holding the

16 and 17 are formed with outwardly extending extensions or plates 26 off-set at their free ends as at 27 to produce ears for engagement with telescoping rods 28 and 29 which further insures the

16 and 17 against any undesired displacement. Brackets 30 are slidable on the rods 28 and 29 and are held in their adjusted positions against sliding movement by set screws 31. The inner sides of these brackets 30 have secured thereto rearwardly and inwardly curved arms 32 terminally equipped with bearings 33 for slidable engagement with the rods 19 and 20. The lower terminals of the brackets 30 are provided with sockets 3 1 for receiving the opposite ends of a curtain roller indicated by the dotted lines and designated by the numeral 35. The upper ends of the brackets 30 are formed with openings for the reception of

telescoping rods

36 and 37, which not only constitute a brace for the said brackets but also a convenient curtain support.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the

16 and 17 may be attached to a window frame of any size, and also that the brackets 30 are so mounted that they will not only engage a curtain pole and shade roller of any length but may be so positioned that the shade orcurtain can be moved to cover either the entire or any portion of the sashes 13.
