Abstract

482,809. Nonconducting coverings for heat and sound. GOSSLER GLASGESPINSTFABRIK GES., O. Nov. 16, 1937, No. 31537. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1936. [Class 64 (ii)] Heat and sound insulation comprises alternate layers of long fibred spun glass and fine fibred felt-like glass wool. Fine fibred glass wool 2 is arranged between layers of long fibred spun glass 1, 3 and the whole held together by stitching 6. The outer surfaces may be hardened by adhesive 5, or the layers as a whole may be impregnated with a binding agent. The insulation may be covered by a layer 4 of corrugated cardboard, jute, wool, non-inflammable or asbestos or crepe or bituminous paper, asbestos board, metal foil or netting. The long fibres may be obtained by drawing glass and threads and the fine fibres by atomizing a jet of fused glass. Loose stitching is used to enable the individual layers to be displaceable with respect to each other.
