481,039. Sharpening razors. MEITNER. B., and BREVETIA SOC. ANON. Dec. 2, 1936, No. 33115. [Class 60] An electrically-operated. device for sharpening razor blades comprises an electromagnet consisting of a coil 13 and a core 12 mounted in a casing 14, the upper end of the core forming a fixed polepiece and being provided with pins 3 passing through the holes 4 in a blade 1. The blade rests on sharpening members 2 adjustably mounted on movable polepieces 6, of angle shape, riveted to springs 9, which are secured by screws 10 to angle-pieces 11 connected magnetically to the core 12 ; the springs are embedded in the angle-pieces 6, 11 and have free parts 15a permitting vibration of the polepieces and members 2. Alternating current, or interrupted direct current is supplied to the coil 13, thereby causing the blade to be pressed onto the upper, inclined, faces of the sharpening-members, which at the same time vibrate across the blade edges. Single-edged blades may be sharpened by a device, as above, but provided with one polepiece and sharpening member only.
