Abstract

310,246. Croad, A. K., (Automatic Lighter Corporation). July 27, 1928. Sharpening by magnetic action.-A magnetic sharpener for safety razor blades &c. consists of a case 10 in which is held a U-shaped magnet 11, the poles 13, 14 projecting above the case and being bevelled inwardly at 23. A doubleedged blade is supported by a non-magnetic bridge 15 and the blade is cambered, to hold its edges 24 on the poles, by a spring 22 carried by a lid 19 hinged at 20 to the case. In a modification, the poles have square ends, and the bridge is cambered upwards, whilst as arranged for single-edged blades, one pole end is square and the other is bevelled to contact with the edge. The magnet may be an electro-magnet, the magnet being shaped as shown in Fig. 5 to accommodate coils 26.
