480,894. Adhesive sealing strips ; postal wrappers. JONES, N. H., MEEK, R. C. S., and JONES & CO., Ltd., S. Nov. 3, 1936, No. 29912. [Classes 73 and 146 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] A package sealing-device comprises a scaling-strip 3 coated with adhesive, and a narrower strip 12 with an exposed non- adhesive surface secured thereto, leaving adhesive surfaces 5 exposed on each longitudinal edge of the strip 3, the strip 12 being cut transversely at intervals, and the strip 3 being formed with longitudinal slits to form facing tabs 14 which enable the strip 12 to be pulled away completely in both directions leaving the edges 5 secured to the package. Preferably, the sealing-strip 3 and strip 12 have formed therein H-shaped slits, as shown. One edge 5 may be secured to a postal wrapper sheet, the wrapper being held closed by the opposite adhesive edge 5. In a modification, the postal wrapper comprises a sheet having an adhesive layer at one edge, a narrow reinforcing strip of material with a non-adhesive surface exposed secured on the adhesive layer, leaving an exposed strip of adhesive on each side thereof, and facing tabs formed at intervals in the reinforcing strip.
