Abstract
208,225. Withers, J. S., (Handley, G.). Sept. 13, 1922. Envelopes and letter-paper.-In combined envelopes and letter-sheets of the kind formed from a single blank provided with perforated marginal portions coated with adhesive along one end and a part of each side edge, a row of perforations is provided mid-way between, or adjacent to, the ends of the side perforations and adhesive marginal side edges. Fig. 5 shows a letter-sheet 1 with gummed marginal portions 3, 5 and perforations 4, and a transverse row of perforations 7 adjacent to the lower ends of the marginal portions 5. The parts 9 - - 11 of the sheet may be provided with side extensions 15 which can be folded inwardly along lines 16 previously to folding the parts 10, 11 upon the part 9. Cut-out portions 17<1> indicate where the sheet is to be folded. The marginal portions may be cut away at 13 to facilitate folding and sealing, and a substantially V-shaped aperture 14 may be provided to facilitate opening. In a modification, Fig. 7, the marginal portions are of increased width and divided into strips 19, 20 by two rows 17, 18 of perforations or the like. The inner strip 19 is non-adhesive to permit the insertion of a paper-knife beneath to open the envelope.
