[Class 52 (ii)] In a folding seat of the kind in which the front legs 10 are pivoted to side members 22 which are pivoted to the back members 12, and in which the lower part of the back engages with the rear legs 18 which are pivoted near their front ends to the front legs, the lower part of the back is permanently connected to the rear legs 18 but has a range of sliding movement along them, so as to permit both adjustment and folding. Arm-rests 11 connect the upper ends of the front legs and the baek, and the seat members 22 rest and slide on a cross member 25 on the front legs. The back is slidably connected with the legs 18 by means of pins 29 on the back which engage in grooves 30 in the legs, and the back is retained in adjusted position by friction. A leg-rest 26 folding inside the seat frame may be provided. In folding, the back is folded forwardly on to the legs 18. Locking means for holding the back in position may be provided, e.g. an arm pivoted to each leg 18 and formed with notches to engage the pins 29, which in this case project through slots in the legs, or to engage the lower ends of the back members 12. In a further modification, the pins 29, Fig. 10, carry links 51, the forward ends of which are pivoted to levers 53 pivoted to the legs and engaging in notches in a plate 56.
