Abstract

480,495. Spectacle frames. MACKAHAN, R. E., and HARD, M. W. April 17, 1937, No. 11043. [Class 97 (i)] A spectacle frame comprises a nose-bridging portion 1, Fig. 2, connected by arms 4 and 5 to lens-supporting bars 8 and 9 to which the lenses 14 are attached at their upper edges. The attachment may be by means of depending clevises 13 as in Fig. 2, or, as shown in horizontal section in Fig. 9, the lens-supporting bar 8 may be recessed to receive the lens 18 held in place by a screwed-on cleat 20. The metal parts have pins or protuberances 19, 25 registering with recesses in the lenses. The arms 4 and 5 have bends 12 and are of sufficiently flexible material to allow bending to adjust the height and separation of the pupillary centres. The portion 1 may not rest directly on the nose but may carry nose pads.
