Abstract
540,883. Spectacle &c. frames. FLEMING, R. J., and FLEMING, Ltd., J. & R. April 2, 1940, No. 5908. [Class 97 (i)] A hinge member for use in combination with frame parts is made from a single blank of sheet material shaped and bent to receive a hinge pin 22 passing through a bore in one frame part, and also to form two angularly-disposed faces 17, 18, seating upon similarly disposed faces of the other frame parts, the hinge member being secured thereto ; as shown, the bore is in a lug 21 extending from an eye rim 19, two cheeks 12 receive the pin 22, the angle between the faces 17, 18 approaches a right-angle and rivets 24 secure the member to the side piece 20. Modifications are described and shown wherein the lug 21 differs in form from that shown, and the blank is shaped and bent to extend either along the outer side of the member 20, or along both sides of it, or into a recess therein so that it may be soldered to a metal core.
