Abstract
480,146. Transformers. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. March 15, 1937, No. 7591. Convention date, March 16, 1936. [Class 38 (ii)] Tap changing means in a transformer comprises one or more contact - actuating slides 8 and driving mechanism therefor, mounted in a tubular guide 7, readily insertable into and removable from a tubular housing 6, which carries a series of fixed contacts 18, 19 with which engage movable contacts 14, 20 on the exterior of the guide and actuated through a slot 16 therein. The guide may be of metal and covered with insulating material and the driving means may be a chain 9, a rack or a screw. The end of the guide may be received by a conical seating ring 23 on the housing. The tap changing gear may be filled with oil which communicates through a strainer with the transformer oil. Short leads 5 connect with the windings. The tap changing gear may be mounted on the lead-through insulator projecting into the transformer vessel.
