Abstract
480,131. Moulding rubber overshoes. MALM, H. Nov. 27, 1936, No. 32590. Convention date, Dec. 21, 1935. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group VII] An overshoe of flexible extensible rubber is moulded in one piece in a mould comprising a lower part 5, an upper part 6, and a core 7. Dowel pins 8 and 11 ensure that the core and the upper and lower parts of the mould are correctly aligned. The pins 11 are preferably attached to the core 7 and enter apertures 12 in the part 5, which open through the lower surface 13 of the part 5 to facilitate the insertion of other pins to eject the core after the moulding operation. The overshoe is moulded from sheets or particles of rubber and the mould may be heated in any desired manner. The overshoe is also moulded in a curved form as shown, to ensure that the side walls are shorter in length than the bottom of the shoe so that in use these walls will be stretched and will fit snugly against the sides of the underlying shoe. The parting line between the two parts of the mould is arranged as at 21, Fig. 1, so that the flare which is formed on the overshoe and is subsequently trimmed off, is in an inconspicuous position on the edges of the sole and heel portions.
