794,938. Moulding cushion insoles for footwear. SCHOLL MFG. CO., Ltd., [formerly SCHOLL MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd.]. May 3, 1956 [May 3, 1955], No. 13741/56. Class 87(2). [Also in Group VII] A method of moulding a laminated insole or sock having a foam latex layer 3 tapered in the toe part comprises depositing a layer 3 of semicured foam latex in a mould 1 and passing over it a doctor blade 4 which has a straight rear portion 5 and a tapered forepart 6 which leaves a knife edge of latex at 7. A thin cover of fabric is placed over the shaped layer which is then heated to vulcanize it and thus secure it to the fabric. The insoles may be stamped from a sheet thus formed. In a modified method when the start of the taper is to be at a curved line suitably shaped individual two part moulds may be used employing latex cured to a lesser extent.
