896,081. Insoles. CASTLE, R. May 14, 1958, No. 12062/57. Class 17(2) A separate insole to comform to an individual foot and to engage and support the entire area of the foot, is formed by softening a sheet of resilient thermoplastic material and bringing it into close contact with a plaster cast formed from the foot. Foam plastic or foam rubber may be used, and may be backed with a sheet of linen, leather &c. Small perforations may be provided in the depressions in the insole to ventilate the shoe. To facilitate the insertion of the insoles into the shoe the portions of the insole forwardly of the depressions may be trimmed away. Replacement of the insole may be prevented by means of a disc or plug of leather &c. attached to the underside of the insole and engaged in a complementary recess in the heel of the shoe. Modelling clay, or potters clay and plaster may be used to form first a pattern and then the cast.
