Abstract
526,781. Heel grips or protectors. SUSSEX RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BAILEY, S. April 24, 1939, No. 12317. [Class 17 (ii)] [Also in Group V] A heel grip, Fig. 1, to be worn inside a shoe to prevent wear on stockings is moulded as a unitary article from rubber, and comprises a base portion 1, and a heel portion 2, with rounded portions at 3, 6, 7 and 11. Either or both of the portions 1, 2 may be roughened and perforated, while the front and upper edges 9, 10 are chamfered. The inner surface of the heel grip may be moulded to the contour of the heel of the foot. The heel grip is moulded from a substantially rectangular piece of rubber in a mould comprising male and female parts 12, 13 guided for movement towards each other on spigots 15. These parts may be shot blasted or otherwise treated to produce the roughening effect on the heel grip, and they are preferably arranged to mould the heel grips in pairs.
