Abstract

480,111. Divan beds. WESSEL, 0., and GASTREICH, J. Aug. 18, 1936, No. 22727. [Class 52 (ii)] In a divan bed comprising a reversible frame b, Fig. 1, supported on an underframe a, the frame b is provided with axles f by means of which it is revolubly mounted in bearings formed in the ends of levers g which are pivoted intermediate their ends at l to the underframe a. In its position of rest, the frame b is supported by rollers c on shoulders d formed on the frame a, the rollers c running on tracks e during reversal of the frame b, lifting of this frame being assisted by springs k connected between the frame a and the ends of the levers g, the lifting effect of the springs continuously increasing as the frame b is raised. Stops m are provided to limit the movement of the levers g. The lifting mechanism is hidden by flaps i, Fig. 2, which are raised during reversal of the frame b by members h attached to the levers g. The frame b is fitted on one side as a divan and is provided on the other side with bedding which, when not in use, is held in place by pivoted frames u.
