Abstract

479,121. Knitting. TRIGGS, W. W. (Davis & Sons, Inc., W. B.) June 22, 1936, No. 17281. Drawings to Specification. [Class 74 (ii)] Relates to a method of making an article of hosiery &c. as set forth in Specification 479,120 on a circular machine, and comprises feeding the fabric thread continuously to the needles to plain knit successive courses of the top, intermittently feeding a covered or uncovered elastic thread, under tension, to spaced needles of the machine to knit said thread, with the fabric thread in plating relation, in spaced wales in each of a plurality of spaced courses of the top, and continuing knitting on the same machine, while discontinuing the feed of the elastic thread, to form the leg &c. portions. The top assumes a rib-like appearance, the edge of which may be finished off and a mock seam applied as in the Specification above referred to. Specification 383,026 also is referred to.
