[Class 74 (ii)] A loop-transferring instrument 1 is strength. ened by providing two or more waves 11, undulations or the like extending along its length. The pointed end 2 leads to a loop engaging shoulder 4. The needle 10 with which the instrument 1 co-operates may be provided with a‹groove 12 to receive the pointed end 2. The needle tricks 9 in the cylinder may be made wider so that a needle and instrument may slide in the same trick, and projecting pieces 19, 19<1> may be provided for supporting the parts of the needles and instruments outside the tricks. Butts 15 may be provided projecting rearwardly of the needles to engage in short grooves 16 formed in the needle bed above the tricks 9. Specification 401,448 is referred to.
