Abstract

586,337. Knitting - machines. BENTLEY ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and BENTLEY, W. T. Oct. 18, 1944, No. 20124. [Class 74 (ii)] A tricked instrument bed for the needles or other sliding members of a knitting-machine, has two or more complete members in each trick. The two sliding members when projected are splayed apart at their outer ends by a centrally disposed fixed partition. In one form, a dial 1 is cut with tricks 2, each to accommodate two complete needles 3, each needle having an operating butt 9. Each trick at its outer end 4 is slightly increased in width. Beyond this portion, the dial is rebated as at 5, and thin metal blades 6 are inserted in radial grooves. One blade 6a is in line with the centre plane of each trick and one blade 6b is disposed mid-between each pair of successive tricks. Each complete member 3 may be a welting or transfer instrument and consist of two blades 3a, 3b which towards their outer ends separate to form an eye 7, and then converge and have a loop retaining notch 8 in each of their top edges.
