[Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] The field and search coils of a radiogoniometer are wound on powdered-iron cores. As shown in Fig. 1, the field windings F1, F3 from the aerial R2, and F2, F4 from the aerial R1 are wound on cores 1 ... IV, which surround the search-coil 1 wound on a core B. Shunt windings 3, 3<1>, on cores n, n', with adjustable parts 4, 4<1>, together with auxiliary iron shunt-pieces A, A1, are provided to correct for quadrantal and re-radiation errors. Fine adjustment is afforded by moving a pin P4 in and out of the core IV and pins P and P1 out of the metal shunts A, A1. An auxiliary winding K is adjustably coupled to one or other of the cones 1 ... IV, in order to correct any lack of symmetry in the couplings. As shown in Fig. 9, the field coils F1 ... F4 are mounted on cores B, B1 so that they can be rotated relatively to the fixed search coils 1, 2, which are wound about two cup-shaped casings 11, 12. These casings can be initially adjusted, relatively to each other, in order to correct for octantal error.
