Abstract
478,172. Road rollers. HAMM, A., and HAMM, A. May 22, 1937, No. 14318. [Class 6 (i)] [Also in Group XXXI] In a tandem or other roller two bow members or bearing forks 3, 5 for the front and rear rollers 1, 1<1> are arranged horizontally and have transverse webs bounded by circular arcs 3<1>, 41 which are tangential to one another and lie between two guiding plates 14, 15 connected together by spring - controlled bolts 6, 6<1> guided in arcuate slots 17, 17<1> in the transverse webs, so that the front and rear rollers may be displaceable parallel to one another or inclined to one another, for adjustment of the effective rolling width or for going round curves. Part 4 of the bow member 5 is movable verticallv relative to the other part. Wedge-shaped guiding and strengthening pieces 12 are inserted between the plates 14, 15. The hollow bow members are moved simultaneously or separately by means of pinions 16, 16<1> engaging curved racks 13, 13<1> and driven by two handwheels and bevel and spur gearing. The upper plate 15 carries the driving engine or motor and the gear box &c., the rollers 1, 1<1> being driven from the gear box by universally jointed shafts and bevel and spur gearing.
