477,115. Colorimeters. HELLIGE & CO., GES., F. Nov. 25, 1936, No. 32245. Convention date, Jan. 2. [Class 97 (i)] Apparatus for determining the constitution of colours, e.g. of solutions, consists of a casing A divided into two parts by a partition B, one part containing three concentric sector-shaped primary colour filters K<1>, K<2>, K3 provided with screens L<1>, L<2>, L<3> which can be rotated independently to adjust the areas of the respective filters, the adjustments being indicated on scales N<1>, N<2>, N<3>. The other part of the casing contains the solution R and colour filters (not shown) similar to the filters K<1>, K<2>, K<3> but without any adjusting-means. Light from a source E is projected through the filters K<1>, K<2>, K<3> by a lens O, and light from the same source is directed through the solution by a diffuse reflector P. The two beams of light are received by diffusing screens F<1>, F<2>, and a prism G forms juxtaposed images of the screens in an eyepiece H. If the surface colour of a solid opaque body is to be determined, the body is substituted for the reflector P.
