Abstract

476,832. Cycle brakes. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO., Ltd., SPECK, T. R., and SHAKESBY. L. Sept. 18, 1936, No. 25388. [Class 136 (i)] In a cycle brake of the side-pull calliper type comprising a pair of curved brake levers 1, 2 pivoted together at their upper ends by a common fulcrum pin 4, only the lever 1 is provided with a laterally-extending operating-arm 5, while the other lever has pivoted thereto at 9 a link 7, the arm and link being disposed approximately at right-angles to each other and having connected thereto the inner wire 6 and the casing 13 respectively of the Bowden &c. operating- mechanism, whereby a straight pull on the wire 6 is maintained. The link 7 is constructed of a metal strip bent centrally to form two parallel depending arms, the lower ends of which are flattened and formed with holes to receive the pivot pin 9, the outer end of the arm 5 being located in the space or slot between the arms. The upper end of the link 7 is formed with a flanged hole to receive the adjustable nipple 12 on the end of the Bowden casing 13.
