Abstract

476,473. Adjustable seats. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. Feb. 11, 1937, No. 4085. Convention date, June 9, 1936. [Class 52 (ii)] In an adjustable vehicle-seat mounted on inclined tracks 12, Fig. 1, means for clamping the seat to the tracks comprise an outwardly extending flange 13 on the upper edge of each track having notches 27, bars 25, 29, Fig. 2, mounted in the front bearing brackets 17 and having dogs thereon adapted to enter the slots 27, springs 26, 31 urging the bars 25, 29 into engaging position, and means for disengaging the bars. The brackets 15, 17 carry rollers which run on the flanges 13, and parts thereof extend under the flange to prevent rising of the seat. Means for operating the locking bars comprise a hand lever 23 Fig. 1, which, on being pulled upwards, moves bell-crank plates 24, Fig. 2, which withdraw. the bar 25 and also through rods 34, 33, and a lever 32, the bar 29. The bars have slots at their connections to the plates 24 and rod 33 so as to provide lost motion to allow the dog on one bar to engage the notches 27 independently of the other. The upper flanges of the tracks are preferably curved, and the radius of curvature may be constant or different at different parts of the track.
