494,152. Passenger vehicles; bedsteads. MURRAY, L. E. R. April 16, 1937, No. 10877. [Classes 103 (ii), 103 (iv), and 108 (i)] [Also in Group XIV] In a convertible day and sleeping vehicle, such as a railway sleeping-car or a caravan, a pair of convertible bed-settees are disposed opposite to each other, each comprising a slidable part 9 normally serving as a seat and a hinged part or back 10 resting against a wall or other support 19, the parts 9 being adapted to slide forwardly until they meet as shown in Fig. 8, to form a bed, and the parts 10 then serving as distance-pieces between the parts 9 and the supports 19. In their sliding movement the seats 9 are guided by the cooperation of C-shaped members 18 at the edges of the seats with pairs of revoluble rollers 14 mounted on supports 12. The vertical supports 12 are braced by means of horizontal bars 13, while the walls or the like 19 are provided with projecting beams 20 to support the free edges of the backs 10 in their lowered position.
