Abstract

436,701. Sliding and tip-up seats. PIERSON, W. A. J., 55, Gorse Lane, and CRANSTON, W. M., 36, Burrs Road, both in Clacton-on-Sea. Dec. 31, 1934, No. 37293. [Class 52 (ii)] In a theatre seat, the seat and back are formed as a unitary structure with a frame 2, 3 provided with guide bars or tubes 4 adapted to slide in guides located on the fixed frame 6, the guides being preferably inclined so that the seat rises on being pushed to the rear. Clamps 8 retain the bars 4 in the guides, and balls or rollers running in grooves in the guides permit free sliding. The seat 1 may be hinged to a cross tube 14.
