476,302. Work-holders. FORKARDT, R. June 3, 1936, No. 15490. Convention date, June 3, 1935. [Class 83 (iii)] A work table for a milling or other machine tool has located immediately below the surface of the table 1, Fig. 4, a power-operated plunger 3, the free end 4 of which is disposed to be engaged by a member 6 depending from a work-holding device 9 so that when this device is fixed on the table, displacement of the plunger causes the device to grip the work, and the work-holding device may be removed and another substituted without disturbing the power means for actuation of the devices. The plungers may be moved by hydraulic electric or compressed air means and a number may be provided on the table, the housing cylinders may also be arranged to slide and thus to actuate clamping elements simultaneously with the corresponding plungers. In a circular table, Fig. 3, the ends 4 of the plungers extend beyond the periphery of the table to engage depending levers from clamping devices arranged on the table.
